Job Summary

West End Dental Porthmadog have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and well presented individual to join our team as an Apprentice Dental Nurse.

Completion of this recognised apprenticeship includes an award of a City & Guilds Diploma in Dental Nursing (NVQ Level 3). Fully funded training is provided.

Successful candidates are eligible for registration as Dental Nurses with the General Dental Council.

Based in our Porthmadog clinic, the right candidate will receive a thorough grounding in providing a high quality, compassionate service to our patients. They will:

  • Present themselves well and take pride in their appearance;
  • Be good team players;
  • Be confident in communicating with others;
  • Be comfortable with numbers and basic finances;
  • Demonstrate good IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office;
  • Be ready and willing to learn, with a real ‘can-do’ attitude.

Successful candidates must have Grades A to C in GCSE English and Maths.

Staff are asked to work 37.5 hours per week during our opening hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Travel to other West End Dental locations (with mileage allowance) is sometimes required.

Main duties:

  • Chair side assistance to dental surgeons, dental therapists & hygienists;
  • Cleaning and sterilising of instruments and surgeries to clinical standards;
  • Meeting and greeting patients and helping to build a positive experience for patients.

Strong candidates will have the opportunity to progress to senior roles and towards management, with significant increases in wages and benefits. Experience in working with and handling the public is not necessary but would be favourable.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Trainees enjoy a competitive salary, 20 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays), and fully funded training towards their Dental Nurse qualification.

Pay is £11.44 per hour.
